Dear Friend,

The Project of Yusuf Meherally Centre at Tara has over the years become a defining symbol of the difference we endeavour to make wherever we serve. It showcases the YMC vision at work.

The Centre runs a rural hospital at Tara. And as a part of our ongoing commitment to providing effective healthcare, we have recently added a physiotherapy department, namely, the Santhosh Karanth Rehabilitation and Medical Centre.

We have a Marathi medium high school too. It is one of the sought after high schools in the area for its distinctive features. It has a hall, a library, a laboratory, a computer lab and a hostel for Adivasi/Dalit /BPL girls.

Just a mile from the hospital, is our Madhu-Pramila Dandavate Sankul. It is the driving force behind our economic development thrust for the rural populace of the region. The initiatives of the Sankul include village industries, a unit for making vermi compost and breeding earthworms, two ten guntha farms, a dhaba, a bio-diesel plant and a bio-gas plant, besides camping facilities.

Opposite the Sankul, is an Adivasi settlement Khairat where we have a hostel for Adivasi youngsters who come for non-formal vocational training.

Our latest project, building of a replica of Bapu Kuti, is aimed at promoting Gandhiji's ideals of non-violence, peace and harmony, and creating awareness on the ills of global warming. To be developed soon, we are in the process of raising a corpus of Rs. one crore towards designing and maintaining it and organizing appropriate activities.
