The 112nd birth anniversary of the late Yusuf Meherally was observed in a joint function of the Bhanuben Pravin Shah High School and Junior College (Mohanlal Raichand Mehta Educational Complex), Tara and the Yusuf Meherally Urdu High School, Apta, both in Raigad District of Maharashtra, on September 23, 2015. It was held in the Arun J.V.Gokal Multipurpose Hall in the premises of the Bhanuben Pravin Shah High School. The meeting was presided over by Dr. G.G.Parikh, Chairman, Yusuf Meherally Centre, who is one of the very few surviving Founder Members of the Centre. In his memorial speech, Dr.Parikh spoke on the life and work of the late Yusuf Meherally (September 23, 1903- July 2, 1950) who was in the forefront of the Freedom Movement. Dr.Parikh recalled the speeches of the freedom fighters of the time, their commitment, their thoughts and ideals and how it kindled in him a yearning for the Freedom of the country, which led him to join the movement while he was still a student. He wondered as to how he would have felt about the great freedom struggle had he been introduced to it as a child in the present times. His message for his audience, the present and coming generations is: dedicate to Communal Harmony, socialistic pattern of life and Equality for all Indians, which constituted the pillars of this great Indian Democracy and to keep up the wonderful heritage that we have inherited as a Nation.

Earlier, four students from the Bhanuben Pravin Shah High School and Junior College, Tara, namely, Kum Priyanka Mali (11th Std), Shri Hritik Patil (10th Std), Kum. Pooja Mali (12th Std) and Kum. Saili Desale (9th Std) spoke about the impressions they had acquired about the late Meherally.

The function was was attended by about 200 students from the two schools, besides Smt. Aarati Dwarkanath Patil , Headmistress of the Bhanuben Pravin Shah High School and Junior College Tara, Shri Kifayat Sharif Antulay, Headmaster, Yusuf Meherally Urdu High School Apta, teachers and staff of the two schools, Shri Madhu Mohite, Joint Secretary, YMC, social workers, Yuva Biradari workers and other staff members of the Centre at Tara.

The occasion also coincided with the visit of the Rotary Club of Panvel MidTown. They donated a Retinascope worth Rs.26,000/- to the hospital of the YMC at Tara for its Eye Department.

The entire function ended with a vote of thanks by Shri Devi Das, Social Worker of the Yusuf Meherally Centre and singing of the National Anthem by all those who were present.
