NON VIOLENCE II - is conceived as a platform, a medium of communication, an opening for promoting the preservation and conservation of the environment, to recharge and rejuvenate the planet. We, at YMC, believe that art has the proven ability to create movements and stimulate creative dialogue, hence the premier edition of NON VIOLENCE II.
A team of international artists arrived at Yusuf Meherally Centre, Tara, Panvel Taluka, Raigad District, on January 24, 2011 for a Land Art Project Camp. They have started their sculptures focusing on environment issues using materials and objects found around the school campus. Our students are assisting them and they in turn get good exposure. The camp will last at Tara till February 4th. Thereafter, they will proceed to work at Kalaghoda and Horniman Circle in Mumbai, where their work will be on display at the Kalaghoda Festival till February 13 for promoting the consciousness of natural environmental conditions. I+nstallations to be built at Tara YMC CAMPUS (with involvement of our school children and tribals)
ebruary 5th - 13th - at Kalaghoda
-Art Schools and Artists to volunteer during this period
-1 Installation to be built and on display till 13th Feb, the last day of the Kalaghoda Festival, at a spot outside the Max Muller Gallery.
February 5th- 13th _ at Horniman Circle.
Both, at Kalaghoda and Horniman Circle, we will be projecting the works and, perhaps, their building process.
Post these events, the 3 installations will be shifted back to Tara and housed on the campus (a permanent museum) to be viewed and enjoyed by 40,000 plus visitors to the Yusuf Meherally Centre every year.
