It is a proud moment for us at Yusuf Meherally Centre (YMC) to know that "our" Dr Joshi has been honoured by the Rotary Club of New Bombay Seaside with their Rotary Vocational Excellency Awards 2016 for his selfless contribution to the society.

Dr. Dinesh Joshi was introduced to the Centre by his father-in-law Dr. N.C. Sharma in 1985. Since then he has been visiting Rukshmaniben Dipchand Gardi Hospital of the Centre at Tara in the Raigad District of Maharashtra more or less regularly. For nearly 25 years, he has been visiting the hospital every Sunday irrespective of the fact that he reaches home at 4.00 a.m. in the morning. And if for some reason he couldn't make it, he would visit the hospital on Wednesdays. He performs all surgeries that do not require general anesthesia. And he is so popular that even general patients consult him in his OPD that lasts till noon and he starts operating after that till 6.00 p.m.

His father-in-law was one of those early Sunday doctors who built the Centre's dental department and continued to work till he died. Dr. Joshi has not only kept up his father-in-law's tradition, but has bettered it. And if a patient or even a worker of the Centre is unwell, he goes out of the way to help him. The country needs more doctors like him.

We in the YMC are both proud and indebted to Dr. Joshi for his selfless service to society and especially at the YMC hospital. It was his untiring and magical healing hands that have gone a long way in building the medical brand of Tara. We thank him and wish him years of good health and true fulfillment.
